A Year in Images: 2020 Draws to a Close

With the final hours of 2020 rapidly passing, the year behind us has certainly put the showjumping community to the test. But the resilience and dedication have been shining lights in an otherwise conflicted year. A Curveball like no other has seen some momentous challenges faced by all in showjumping but as the year draws to a close, we can’t help but appreciate all the joyous occasions that have come out of it. With several new partnerships, riders stepping up to new heights, and glorious victories at several title shows, we take a look back at the year that is 2020 with the best images that captured the most magical of moments from all our favourite equestrian photographers.

Cherishing great moments with our equine companions is what is at the heart of every equestrian. But as everyone who has ever sat on a horse will know, it’s an incredibly humbling experience as well. While we spend most hours of our lives trying to perfect the art of successful showjumping, there are always those moments that, while we may not appreciate, make for great photographs. Thankfully, the resulting injuries were minor and all fallen riders have been seen back in the ring since these photographs.

There is no doubt that the year has been filled with an abundance of news in the showjumping industry; with the tragic passing of some dear friends, including Greg Pienaar and Rob Martin, and the retirements of 2 great equine legends, Clyde Z and Capital Don Cumarco. But, there have also been joyous moments as new life has begun and new partnerships have formed.
