An exciting month of competition has seen many changes in the competition arena and while most of the news has been positive, the month of March also had its moments of sadness:

No 4: FEI Rule Change Has Major Tack Ramifications:

The release of the Stewarding manual for the 2021 showjumping season arrived a few days before the start of the KEP Easter Festival which has forced many riders to rapidly re-evaluate their tack choices. With several changes across the Manual, the most important one to take note of has certainly been the one regarding auxiliary reins. With over 1000 page views, the new rule has been the 4th most popular article in the month of March.

No 3: Charley-Ann Crockart’s Ride to Glory, and How She’s Future-Proofing Her String:

Charley-Ann Crockart has been an exceptional competitor to observe over the last 6 months. With several notable newsworthy moments including her return to the 1.50m ranks and the addition of several quality young horses, Charley-Ann is making her mark and cementing her future in the showjumping industry in South Africa and with over 1100 page views, our viewers have enjoyed following Charley-Ann’s journey as much as we have.

No 2: Neriske Prinsloo Debuts R2 Million Capital Stallion at Stokkiesdraai:

After the 2020 Capital Warmblood Stud auction made headlines with their record-breaking sale of Capital Ayden, the impressive stallion made his competitive debut at the Puresan Stokkiesdraai Cup incorporating the Riders Grand Prix Series. Partially because of his price tag and partially because of his impressiveness, Ayden and Neriske have attracted attention across the showjumping industry and with over 1300 page views, we all look on to see what the future has in store for them.

No 1: Equistro van de Mispelaere, SA’s Own Black Beauty, Has Passed Away:

With almost 1500 page views, the top story in March was the untimely passing of South Africa’s own Black Beauty, Equistro van de Mispelaere. After his initial competitive time with Neriske Prinsloo, Equistro has been competitive under Lorette Knowles-Taylor for the last few years. Unfortunately, March signified the end of his competitive career as he sadly passed away.

As we look ahead to the month of April, several headline stories are in the pipeline from the ongoing Easter Festival which includes the Outdoor Grand Prix title. With a few provincial shows filling up the weekends in the middle of the month, the final weekend will see the launch of the World Cup Qualifier Series as Kyalami Equestrian Park host the event sponsored by Reonet.
