The sport of showjumping is filled with great highs and lows; from the glory and pride of a great round to the unexpected falls and injuries that come as part of the overall package, it’s a truly humbling sport and our equine partners are great levellers but also our greatest supporters and aides. The bond formed between a horse and rider is remarkable as, every day, you place your trust in one another and work together to achieve your best. When the time comes, however, our equine partners must often be shared with a new rider who will love and cherish them and learn to grow together as a new partnership. This is the case for Capital Cameroon, who has joined the ranks of an up-and-coming young athlete, Kerry Rees.

Tegan Bruyns has often been a speedy competitor in the open grades with several podium positions. Her partnership with Capital Cameroon was definitely a perfect match after several young riders tried to adapt to the gelding but were less successful. Tegan and Cameroon have been ideal for each other with both sides willing to step up and take the lead when necessary and teach each other all that the other needs to know, with this bond enabling Tegan to reach the top with Cameroon, taking her around her first 1.50m competition in 2019. Their partnership, however, has now come to an end as Cameroon has joined the string of Kerry Rees.

Kerry has been a regular competitor on her 2 horses, Callaho Lavinia and Seeis Le Champ. Actively competing in the 1.10m heights on Lavinia and 1.30m on Le Champ, Kerry is a hard-working and competitive young rider who has been pursuing the top ranks with the aid of her coach, Rainer Korber. Rainer has been an incredible influence on his pupils, not only leading by example through his own accolades and successes in the ring, but through his training techniques that have seen numerous successes from his pupils. With the acquisition of Capital Cameroon and the assistance of Rainer Korber, Kerry has the foundation and all the right tools available to reach great success in the future.

Congratulations on your new partnership Kerry, may your journey be filled with good memories and great results.
