Carl Boonzaaier Claims Prix St. George Victory

Carl Boonzaaier riding TI Spartacus

Carl Boonzaaier, a professional showjumper with recent accolades including a 3rd-place finish in the 2019 South African Derby aboard the Callaho Warmblood Stud Stallion, Casparon, turned his talents to the discipline of dressage last weekend on the 10th and 11th November. Riding the Ina and Tjaart Kruger-owned TI Spartacus, Carl rode spectacularly at the FEI Dressage World Challenge hosted by Fourways Riding Centre to claim victory in the Prix St. George.

Carl operates his equestrian business out of Glenferness and is a familiar face in the showjumping industry with notable rides at the top levels on Callaho Corinth and Callaho Casparon and a number of up-and-coming talents in the lower grades. Carl and the quirky Casparon are regular features in the 1.50m classes and are well on their way to a long, competitive career at the top.

Carl took to the dressage circuit a few years ago and has gone from strength to strength. With this ride of TI Spartacus, the pair have flourished. With many dressage tests under their belt, they now compete at some of the highest levels of the dressage discipline. With their recent performance at Fourways Riding Centre, Carl and Spartacus have certainly proved their capabilities and with the support of owners, Ina and Tjaart, the world of dressage is their oyster.

Congratulations Carl, Spartacus, Ina, and Tjaart on a beautiful test and a fantastic win in the Prix St. George FEI World Challenge.
