Mandy Johnstone Secures a Second RotoFlo Ride

Alongside several other 1.50m athletes who have made regular changes to their competitive string including Lorette Knowles-Taylor, Gareth Neill, and Rainer Korber, Mandy Johnstone picked up her first RotoFlo horse in the late stages of February as RotoFlo International looks to broaden its horizons. But that has not been the only addition to Mandy’s string as she debuted a second RotoFlo horse at the recent Burlington graded event: RotoFlo Capital Harrison.

The new journey with the RotoFlo team has been a great opportunity for Mandy to get herself proactively developing a string of horses and while both geldings are still in the lower grades, the opportunity for Mandy to educate these horses with her own expertise is mounting. A top-grade rider who has seen many successes at all levels of the showjumping sport, Mandy started her journey with RotoFlo Capital Hector and has continued to see improvements in the gelding much to the delight of his owners, Clive Robertson and Sharlee Ann, and this has now resulted in the addition of a 2nd horse to Mandy’s string.

RotoFlo Capital Harrison is an 8-year-old gelding by Capital Hotline out of a Guidam mare. Previously competed by Johnny Saleh, the gelding was regularly seen competing in the 1.00m classes with a handful of podium positions but with the reallocation of the gelding, Mandy has decided to mark the gelding with her own stamp as she re-establishes their new connection.

With good groundwork being imperative to optimum performances, Mandy has spent many hours behind the scenes investing in the flatwork that she believes is vital to the improvement and performances of Harrison.

Their first competition together at Burlington Stables saw the partnership take on the 90cm classes and with Harrison highly excitable and having his rodeo moments in the warm-up arena, Mandy was loaded with an enormous challenge but her experience was once again brought to light as she quietly re-focused the gelding.

While we’re certain that Mandy will have her work cut out for her with the boisterous gelding, we look forward to their journey together and seeing that partnership excel up the grades.
