After an 11-month hiatus from the sport, the 2020 Gauteng Champs held at KPC heralded the return to competition for Marlene Sinclair. The former World Cup Qualifier series winner returned to the ring with a new ride, the rising six-year-old stallion, Oxer van de Boortoren, owned by Silhouette Park. Following the sad retirement of Camaro and absence from the ring of the up and coming Douglas M, Marlene has been without a steady ride since the beginning of 2019.

Oxer, a talented young Belgian import has been brought on by the esteemed Jonathan Clarke, who produced the stallion up to the 1.20 classes. He’s already shown promise as an up and coming jumper, with a keen mind and strong technique indicative of his Diamant de Semilly bloodline.

Marlene has been full of praise for the young stallion, regarding his temperament as exceptional despite his youth. “Fantastic ring rides on a VERY special six-year-old Belgian Warmblood stallion, Oxer van de Boortoren,” she said after the pair’s first show together. Marlene is thrilled to have the ride further going on to say, “Thank you to (a very special) Tamzyn Wegrostek and Jonathan Clarke for your incredible support. I’m deeply grateful.”

Marlene herself needs no introduction as a regular fixture at the top levels of the sport. She finished as the top ranked rider of the South African leg of the FEI World Cup Qualifier series in 2018, qualifying to represent the United States at the 2020 World Cup Jumping Finals in Las Vegas. Sadly, she was not able to compete due to the COVID-19 pandemic placing a halt on international competition. A talented horsewoman, Marlene is a favourite with the crowds and her return to the ring on such a talented young prospect is fantastic news for fans of the sport.

We are beyond delighted for you Marlene and wish you and Oxer many successes in the ring.
