Neriske Prinsloo Debuts R2 Million Capital Stallion

Developing a top string is always a difficult task for any rider as horses capable of being successful at the highest echelons of the sport are limited and to further add, not every horse is suitable for that specific rider. However, some of our riders have been exceptionally lucky to grow a string with no weak links; one such rider is Mpumalanga-based South African showjumper, Neriske Prinsloo.

Together with Ryan Lee Harvey, Neriske has created a string of horses that all appear to have talent, scope, and attitudes to see them compete successfully in the open grades and further their breeding ambitions. Her most recent acquisition is the record-breaking, R2 million purchase from the 2020 Capital Warmblood Stud auction, Capital Ayden. By Arezzo VDL out of a Mylord Cathargo Z mare, this 5-year-old stallion stirred excitement long before his first competitive event. However, the Stokkiesdraai Cup this past weekend proved to be a fantastic show for Neriske as Ayden made his competitive debut. Starting him off gently, Ayden floated the 90cm/1.00m tracks designed by Kate Launder (FEI 3*), attracting the attention of all onlookers at the show. Ayden and Neriske were a delight to watch; perhaps the most refreshing aspect being Neriske letting Ayden discover himself as he learns to use his body.

Neriske also competed with another stellar young chestnut stallion, Origan van den Bisschop, in the 1.20m heights. While Origan has been competitive in the lower grades since 2019, the 6-year-old stallion was another exciting horse to watch as he completed his rounds gracefully. While Neriske was kept occupied in the B arena with some of her up-and-coming superstars, she also managed to ride several great rounds in the main arena, with GCS Max Chianti O.T Lowlands Z making his Grand Prix debut in the 1.45m Puresan Stokkiesdraai Cup.

Chianti has been competitive with Neriske for quite some time now and is always a great competitor to watch. His playful nature, incredible power and scope, and great partnership with Neriske have captured the attention of many fellow 1.50m riders. Co-owned with Ryan Lee Harvey of RLH Supreme Warmbloods, the 10-year-old stallion is a marvel to watch. While we have yet to see this partnership break into the 1.50m ranks, with their current performances and Chianti’s affinity for jumping well beyond what he is merely asked to do, it seems only a matter of time before they become a dominant force in our World Cup Qualifier series and 1.50m competitions across the country.
