New Import, Colibri, Brings High Hopes for Cathryn Neill

After several notable changes and additions to the strings of our top riders including Jeanne Korber, Shaun Neill, and Charley-Ann Crockart, another member of the Neill family, Cathryn Neill has also made a future investment with a recently-landed 2-year-old import from Germany, Colibri.

With the retirement of the legendary Clyde Z, Cathryn Neill has, unfortunately, been left without a consistent competitive horse. Her secondary ride, Hope van Orshof was sold on near the end of 2020, and since then, Cathryn has been struggling to find another partner to compete successfully with. However, Cathryn hasn’t been kept out of the ring entirely as she has been seen aboard Shaun Neill’s Callaho Freedom, a suitable interim partnership for Cathryn.

While Cathryn continues her search for her next ‘Clyde Z’, Colibri has made his journey to South Africa with the aid of James White from Steed Equine Express. The young gelding by Colman out of a Cassini mare is an exciting prospect for the future as he displays incredible talents inherited by his blue-blooded family. The tall, athletic-looking gelding, while only 2 years old, is an exciting prospect for Cathryn’s future and, with time, is sure to be the next top athlete that Cathryn has been searching for.

While the journey ahead to produce this youngster and bring him up through the grades will take time, we look forward to seeing Cathryn’s progress and hope to see her remain active in the top grades in the meantime.
