Silhouette Park’s Esaro W Has Returned to Competition

The start of the Kyalami Equestrian Park’s Easter Festival has already seen some great showjumping from the lower grades competitors but in a different part of Kyalami, another show, Ezethu’s Riders Series, also had some exciting displays coming from the higher grades this past weekend. Among the usual campaigners who were all preparing for the week ahead at the prestigious Outdoor Grand Prix, one rider, Jonathan Clarke, was seen aboard a long time missing, special stallion, Esaro W.

Owned by Tamzyn Wegrostek of Silhouette Park Equestrian, Esaro has been a popular competitor amongst Jonathan’s fellow riders and spectators due to his incredible competitiveness, agility, and bravery. In a jump-off, the partnership is always highly competitive which often sees them on the podiums and regularly claiming the top spots.

After a highly successful competitive career, the stallion, by Harley out of an Indoctro mare, was always a threatening competitor in the 1.35m/1.40m heights but the World Cup Qualifier event hosted by Stokkiesdraai in 2018 was the last time the stallion would be seen in the competition arena as he was unfortunately sidelined by an injury. After a series of varying delays, Esaro W has only now made his return to competition.

The Riders Series events, hosted by Bronwyn and Clem Dos Santos, welcomed the liver chestnut stallion back. Whilst only entered in the 1.10m heights, Esaro looked to be back to his former self as he strode around with his head held high.

The 12-year-old stallion was on his way to making his debut in the 1.50m events but due to his absence from the arena, that graduation was put on hold. But, with his return to competition, although his start has been slow, it’s expected that the stallion will not be missing from the top grades for much longer.

Some exciting news for the showjumping industry, we look forward to seeing Esaro back in the tops grades again soon.
