Team Rotoflo has a second horse heading to Belgium

After the initial story broke of Kelly O’Connor’s return to Europe, the emotions were mixed amongst the showjumping community and within the Rotoflo team itself – as much as everyone was excited for Kelly, the South African circuit would be a little less exciting with her departure. Still, the exciting opportunities that lie ahead have made it all worthwhile. Now, there’s more news on Kelly’s journey as another horse, in addition to Rotoflo Capital Kamron, will be making the journey with her: RotoFlo Capital Moonlight.

While Rotoflo Capital Kamron is currently quarantining in Cape Town, it was announced today that Rotoflo Capital Moonlight will be joining the journey. Moonlight was not originally part of the plan as he was owned by Capital Stud and not by the Rotoflo team. That has since changed, as Moonlight has been acquired by Clive Robertson, Rotoflo team boss, and will embark on his journey down to Cape Town to begin his quarantine process alongside Kamron.

Many in the industry will already know Rotoflo Capital Moonlight. While the Rotoflo prefix may be new to many, his experience and competitive nature are not. Kelly and Moonlight have had an incredible journey together thus far with their victory in the 7-year-old Young Horse Performance Series last year as well at their 1.30m Championship victory at Gauteng Champs. A highly competitive pair that gel effortlessly and bring out the best in each other, on their good days, they are unbeatable and on their bad days, well, they’re still in the top 5. The news of Moonlight’s addition to Kelly’s European string is exciting as she will now have a horse in the higher grades as a strong platform from which to compete.

Rumours have sparked over the last year that Moonlight is the “next Colnardo” and while the gelding is still young, his bravery, scope, and carefulness have seen him succeed at every level he has been at. The quarantine process will take several months before the 2 Rotoflo horses can be transported to Belgium and should be settled in their new home by May. Kelly has said she will remain in South Africa until the 2 geldings start their final leg of their journey and will then meet them on the other side.

An incredibly exciting journey lies ahead for the whole Rotoflo team, we wish you all the best and safe travels for your precious cargo.
